Bikes for the World: (www.bikesfortheworld.org) is a project of the not-for-profit Washington Area Bicyclist Association. Since 1995, BfW has collected 50,000 bikes and thousands of dollars in parts and gear. Donations provide mobility and happiness throughout the DC area and the world, including
What To Donate: Any serviceable adult or child’s bicycle. Mountain, kids bikes, fat-tired “cruisers”, touring and road bikes are the most-desired. Tandems, recumbents other bikes, and scooters also accepted. Bikes must be repairable or better condition, with minimal rust. Minor defects such as flat tires or a missing seat are ok. A $10 per bike donation is requested to defray a share of the shipping costs.
Donations are tax deductible—Tax receipts provided for all contributions.
Also Accepted: Spare parts and components, accessories, pumps, locks, helmets, gloves, bicycle books, manuals, and tools.
