Last Weekend Adventure Ride - June 2021
We'll meet at 5:45 pm and we roll at 6:00 pm.
Monuments by Moonlight
We're going a bit off script this month and taking a Monuments by Moonlight ride to DC. We'll meet at The Bike Lane and travel to DC via the W&OD, Custis, and Mount Vernon Trails. After a spin around to see the monuments (with photo ops, of course), we'll return to Rosslyn where you can either hop on the Metro or ride the hills of Arlington back to Reston. This is our chance to do this before the tourists return en masse!
The distance is about 20 miles from The Bike Lane to the Washington Monument. If you plan to take the Metro, add about 5 miles for noodling around the monuments and getting back to Rosslyn. If you're biking back, double that.
You MUST have a front and rear light (not just a reflector) as it will be after dusk when we are returning.
A note about passing: We pass ONLY on the left. We call our passes to the rider or pedestrian in front of us. We allow plenty of room (especially in these COVID times).
This is a social ride, designed for people who are more about the journey than the speed. Our ride leaders will set the pace. If you want to go faster than the group pace set by the ride leaders, we will wave goodbye to you and wish you well.
We are paper-free, which means you can download the route from RidewithGPS and print it before you come, but we will not have paper cue sheets to distribute at the ride. (We will send you the route after you register)
The ride is limited to 15 participants including ride leaders. Riders should be able to sustain a 10mph pace over 20 miles.
All riders must sign (or have already signed for 2021) a liability waiver. You can do that HERE. The first ride with us is free. We welcome you to join us on subsequent rides as a member. Membership is $25 per year and you can take care of that HERE.

Important Notes:
- The destination this time does not involve food.
- We will not be locking our bikes anywhere this time. But bring some type of hydration.
- If you think you might use the Metro option, bring a SmartTrip card or $$ to get one.
- No one gets left behind unless they want to be.
- Every rider must wear a helmet.
